SOME UPCOMING DATES YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS:

July 29, 2012 - Sunday - 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – FREE!

We will have our 5th Sunday of the month Stitch-In at the Stitching Shop!  Bring something to stitch on and a sack lunch to join this fun group in this cool, well-lit area.

August 4, 2012 – Saturday – 10:00 a.m. – Colorado BE Guild

I hope everyone is getting caught up on the Holiday Magic?  We will be doing the next letter (“H”) at this meeting and answer any questions you might have.   Bring show and tells!

September 15, 2012 – Saturday – 10:00 a.m. – Noon? – Fun Stuff Canvas Project

If you are wanting to join us for the “Fun Stuff” canvas project and are not on the following list, please let me know by July 31, 2012, as I am ready to get the materials ordered so we can be ready to start.   There is NO CHARGE for the class, just the materials.   We will be meeting each third Saturday of the month to review a block on this project.

Vicky H., Susie G., Rose C., Sandy R., Bev T., Sue E., Judy Z. and Jacque L.  Anyone else I missed or didn’t get on the list?

If you need a picture of the project, please let me know and I will e-mail it to you.   Gorgeous blues, purples, greens….we have a stitched sample at the Stitching Shop if you want to stop by and see it in person.  Thanks to Pam H. for lending it to us!

January 2012 Post:

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!   I hope Santa was good to all of you!

Check out our new project for 2012/2013.   It is Holiday Magic (A Special Passion) and we will do one block a month.   Thank you to Mary Jo for allowing us to show her completed Holiday Magic (and it is absolutely gorgeous in person) below.  Let me know soon if you want to do the new project as I have a limited number of the designs available.

We will be having a make-up class for the Ornament Canvas with Kurdy Biggs on January 28, 2012 from noon to 3:00 p.m.   Since it was so cold and snowy in December, she is kind enough to offer a make-up class, so don’t miss out.   We will have a couple open spots if you decide you want to take the class this time around.  For those of us who made it in December, we had a great time and I’m sure there will be some show-n-tells of the finished ornament at our meeting.  Everyone should have received an e-mail reminder, so let me know if you can make the class.  Please read the “Class Policy” under “Class Registration.”

Sometime this Spring, we are scheduling a Beginner Hardanger Class with Ann Pinfield and she is an expert in Hardanger as well as many other embroideries.   As soon as we have the sample and a date set, we will start taking sign-ups for the class.

If you have ideas of classes you would like to see scheduled, let me know!   We’re open to trying new projects!

December 2011 Post:

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day for those of us who celebrate that holiday!  December 3 will be our holiday party!   If you want to bring some goodies to share, please do so!  We’ll have a show and tell of all the finished “Welcome” pieces (it doesn’t need to be framed, just completely stitched) to be entered into the drawing.   Bring any show and tell you have finished to share with everyone!

We will unveil the new project for 2012 and have the designs available.  It will be starting on January 7, 2012.

Don’t forget if you signed up for the Ornament Canvas project with Kurdy Biggs, it will start at noon, so bring a sack lunch if you want something to munch on before the class.

There are a lot of new and exciting products and classes coming to the Stitching Shop in 2012!     Here’s to a better 2012 and to celebrating whatever holidays your heart desires!  Thank you for being so supportive of the Colorado Brazilian Embroidery Guild and the Stitching Shop (aka as Brazilian Embroidery, Inc.)!

November 2011 Post:

We sure had a wild group in October!   The punch-needle class was very successful and we hope to see some finished pumpkins at the next meeting.

If you still need any help on “Welcome,” this will be the last month to ask questions.  The drawing for finished pieces will be December 3.  If you need help with any other projects, feel free to bring them.  We have also started discussing what to do for 2012, so if you have some ideas, bring them to the next meeting.

On December 3 we will have another Special Class for Colorado BE Guild Members:  guest teacher, Kurdy Biggs to teach a small canvas project.  Pictures will be posted as there will be two color choices.   We will have a finishing class in 2012, so it won’t be something left undone as another UFO.  The fee will again be $10 and the kit fee will vary depending on which color choice you want (white/gold - $25 and white/red/green - $30).    There will be a limited number for this class, so sign up early!  The class will start about 12:00 noon and last til 3:00 p.m.  Bring a sack lunch!

October 2011 Post:

Everyone was enjoying the last bit of summer last month.   So if you need help on any of the “Welcome” letters, this is the month to get questions answered.    Final project (not framed) needs to be done by December 3 to be entered in the drawing.

We have our limit for the punch-needle class by Karen Watson.  Be sure to bring a 10" tight hoop and your lunch.  The class will start about 12:00 noon.   Kits are ready to go!

Also in December, start thinking about what you want to do for 2012.   There are a couple of ideas being floated, but if there is something you want to do as a group project, let me know.

August 2011 Post:

Now that the computer problems have subsided (at least momentarily), everything should be up and running!   We are on the last letter “O” of the “Welcome.”   Detailed stitching information on the current letter will be given out at the meeting.  Start thinking about what  you want to do for the new year or sooner.

Special Class for Colorado BE Guild Members:   October 1, after the meeting (noon to 2:00 p.m.) will be an introduction and small punch-needle class by Karen Watson.  The class fee is only $10.   There is a variety of projects you can pick from (kit fees vary).  The sample she has done and will be using in class is the Pumpkin (see below). Let me know if you want to sign-up for this class as we will be limiting it to 12-15 people.  It’s a great opportunity to try something new.  Karen tells me it’s a great, quick gift idea and looks like you spent hours doing it!   Give it a try!

If there are other specialty classes you would like to try, let me know and I will find an instructor.

Hope you’re all staying cool with this hot, hot weather.  Remember, the shop is nice and cool during the Summer!   Keep stitching.

July 2011 Post:

We’ve had some fun with the server on this website and I do apologize for not getting information posted.   It’s nice to have your own server, but with that comes some logistical headaches...replacing it is one of them.

Now that Summer has arrived, we are keeping cool at the shop working on the “Welcome.”  We keep adding ladies for this project and even some have joined us via the internet.  We will be working on the “W” this month and only one letter to go!  Is everyone caught up?  If you need any of the letters, let me know and I will e-mail the files to you.  It’s been a fun project, but we need to start thinking of the next group project.  Any thoughts?  Let me know!

In September or October, we will be having a guest teacher providing a class on punch needle.  So if you have ever wanted to try this, we will try and have the sample at the August meeting so everyone can check it out and sign up.

This is the time to get all your questions answered and see what everyone else is working on!   We always have great show and tell, so bring yours to share!   If you weren’t there last month, check out the pictures under “Show and Tell” to see what has been brought in the past months!   We’ve had some wonderful “Show and Tells” from the ladies that has now been posted!   Wow!    Check out the “Guest Photo Gallery” from around the world!

We continue to meet at the shop at 4444 Morrison Road!   We have now expanded to over 2,500 square feet!   The lighting is great and we have plenty of tables and room for everyone as we continue to grow.  We will still meet from 10:00 a.m. to noon or whenever we’re done stitching, usually on the first Saturday (sometimes the second Saturday, check below for actual dates) of each month.  We just have fun and a fabulous group of very sharing ladies!

See you on Saturdays!   Call me (303) 522-6866 if you need directions to the shop or have any questions.

June 2011 Post:

Server down and out ....

May 2011 Post:

I have a great excuse why there was no posting last month (and I hope you’ll agree).   Madelynn Vallee Brown was born on April 1 (no foolin’) and we are thrilled to be her godparents.   My niece, Laura, swore she knew Madelynn would arrive around March 20 as she knew exactly when she happened.  I bet on April 1.  Guess who won?   She is a cutie and even has hair!

From L to R: Laura (Mom), Evylena (Great Grandma), Sandy (Grandma) and behind is me (Godparent).

Now on to more serious matters.  I hope you come early to get a seat as we are growing and had over 25 ladies at the last meeting!  We are working on the “Welcome” panel (your choice of vertical or horizontal).  If you don’t live close enough to come to the meetings, the project information will be e-mailed for those who sign-up, so this is a good project for doing a web class!   Best part, it’s free instruction each month when you buy your kit!  Notes and pictures will be posted each month after the Guild meets.   E-mail me if you want to participate via e-mail!
